Old times ~ another reason to miss Ramadan

Once upon the time there was a bored guy...sitting infront of his laptop screen wondering what to do..

The poor guy decided to find a way to entrtain himself..what should he do? hmmm I guess he would go to EF

He saw a thread that reminded him of some old nice days...the guy used to be addicted to EF...missing the old times and his good fellas back then..

It was Ramadan...how great it was to spend times with great persons...though he has never met them but it was like he knew them ages ago...

Imagine with me how it was with him back then...Ramadan...oh how he misses Ramadan! about an hour before the break-fast..the sun is leaving slowly...rays are following...racing through paths of light that are there only hope to catch up with the sun before the darkness swallow them...and the smell...food never smelt better...hungry he was...praising god to make the darkness come quicker...magical atmosphere...some candles are let to make it even more magical..

Though magic can wait...he wanted to make time goes faster...so as usual he went online...ahh his favourite game...truth or dare...he is wishing that his friends are around...oh they are...I guess they were feeling the same as he did..

They played and played until the sun left...and the mosques called...praising god..Lord is almighty...time to break their fast..so the friends said goodbye promising to meet ASAP..

I am not good at sharing my memories though lol

I used to love Ramadan- well, I still do but not as
much as before. It was different or it's me who was
different back then.

I was in grade 3 when I decided to fast Ramadan. I
could not fast the entire month but I did not tell my
parents lol I remember that day when I was sitting
with my late grandmother and could not bear my
hunger anymore. I fetched Oman chips and started
munching My grandmother was blind so I did
not fear eating in here presence. I forgot though
that blind people can hear lol She asked me if I
was eating and I lied

When I think about it now I know that she knew
that I was eating but she did not argue with me!
I am sorry grandma I lied to you
I love you and miss you.

I will start from older to the newer

- I was around 10 years when this story happened, our old house door just opposite of the backside of our neighbors' house where their "open" kitchen was located.

Our neighbors use to cook just beside the wall where they have the kitchen, always smoke and smell of burned coffee invading our noses

Our neighbor Khlafan is one of big family members who lives with three families together in that house. That night in Ramadhan and as usual the smoke of burned coffee filling the place , so I went out of the house, hold a stone and threw it to our neighbors’ kitchen
Immediately I heard screaming sound of Khlafan : WAAAAAAAA BOOOOOOY WOO BAAAAAAAAAAAH !!!!!

I escaped before anybody see me, but later on I became to know that the poor Khalfan is the who prepare Omani coffee for his family

I only miss one thing about Ramadn...I miss that feeling of peace inside...I cant describe it...but it awesome

The other one

I was around 14-15

new people came to our area in Seeb,they are from place called Sroor. Tow brothers one Said ( older than me ) one is Salim ( same age)
A dispute happened between me and Salim in Ramadan when I found him near the beach with his brother but I wasnt alone my brother was with me that time

Fight started, suddenly I found a TUBE LIGHT thrown there. I took and hit Salim in his leg and he started bleeding

His brother rushed to him and tried his best to stop the blood. I took it chance and escaped

His Mother came to our house complaining but I was spoiled that time. My grand mom was in my side and didnt allow anybody to beat me

My mom came and started scaring me that if he died the police will kill me . I went up the floor and was scared and stayed there without eating Fotoor

Finally they came and told me that everything is fine , Salim got his treatment so dont worry

I met Salim currently and he showed me where his leg is stitched

when i was in elementry school , i used to see big boys hiding to eat during the day , especially secondry school boys !!!

lovely Ramadan_best time of year ever sub7an Allah!
don't remember that much though_but I think there were times where I cheated and eat behind doors when I was lil
best Ramadan was when we used to live in Al bet el3ood was amazing really_they used to suppurate us the youngest and we eat alone_I always looked to that side were old ppl sat and wounder when on earth am I gonna be there_and at the Tarawee7's time we used to watch cartoons and boys weren't allowed cuz they had to join prayers anyway and they get upset for that lol
one thing I do remember though_that when I started fasting it was so difficult to study for exames_I get tired during day and sleepy at night
I once had Islamic studies' exam and I didn't study _when mum woke me up for so7oor I remembered that I have exam and I started crying
I kept crying till morning _I did well but I couldn't remember the Sorah no matter how hard I tried(how ironic forgetting Quran in Ramadan)
when the results came out_my teacher gave me that look I will never forget in my life_she called my name in front of all students and kept making fun of me_(mashaalh nasya elsorah )
I went home crying
anyway when I started fasting they lat me break with old ppl and my uncle praised me alot for that

When I was in grade 2 (that was when I started to try
fasting) I remember playing "3aleik 3aleik" with my friends at break ..
I was so proud of myself.. until at twilight I realised "okay, I think I
drank water after we played" and I started crying

In grade 3, on the way back home on the bus for some reason
I had some candies with me I remember exactly how my friend
was asking me for one. I was like "okay ba36eesh bs amaana la takli
taw.. tara ana b7a9al thunoob b3dein*serious face*"
When I got back home I took my time eating a whole packet of
sweets while doing my homework

I miss the long walks I used to have with my dad at night ..

Now that we grew up Ramadhans aren't as fun I guess.. getting back home quite
late and really tired after a long day, so I pray and go to sleep until
just before fu6oor time

you know I always wonder what has changed...us or Ramadan?

I always end up its only us...we changed changing the socitey..forgetting traditions and letting go of many boundries.

But still, Ramadan never lost its special taste of any year passed by, though it became a bit less tastey...
