The ' table manners' are essential in China and that is why Chinese people have variety of dishes. For every occasion there is a special type of food. For example, celebrating birthday is important moment in one's life. When one is young, usually he will eat noodles before his birthday, because the long noodles indicate the longevity in China, and birthday cake on the actual day. In addition to the above, peaches in many forms will be added symbolizing the longevity and immortality, as well as delightful couplets and candles.

On the wedding day, it is also customary to serve Chinese dates, peanuts, longan and chestnuts together as wish that the couple will soon have a baby after some time. Moreover, in famous days like the Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese people serve rice with different shapes and flavors. Actually rice is considered to be a major dish.

China is the hometown of chopsticks. Chinese people think that the invention of chopsticks reflects the wisdom of ancient Chinese people as these simple sticks can do many things on the table such as nip, pick and stir food.

Nowadays, Chinese people have started serving dishes that are made of animals like dogs, or insects like worms and cockroach. Actually, such dishes might not be so popular in other parts of the world, however, millions of Chinese people love them. One says " I prefer to eat insects rather than eating cows meat".
